The Cincinnati ToolBank’s Mini-ToolBank Program is an innovative initiative designed to bring tools closer to the neighborhoods that need them most. These container-based lending hubs are placed in strategic community locations to provide easier, more equitable access to high-quality tools for nonprofits, schools, neighborhood groups, and faith-based organizations conducting beautification, clean-up, and revitalization projects.
Why Mini-ToolBanks?
Many of our partner organizations face barriers such as limited transportation or tight schedules that make traveling to our central ToolBank challenging. The Mini-ToolBank model removes those barriers by embedding a curated inventory of the most-requested tools—like rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, and litter grabbers—directly into neighborhoods. This allows for more efficient, timely, and locally-driven impact.
Our Goals:
- Increase Access: Provide high-need communities with easier access to tools and equipment.
- Boost Volunteer Engagement: Enable more frequent and spontaneous community-led projects.
- Build Local Capacity: Encourage long-term stewardship by empowering residents to take the lead.
- Enhance Sustainability: Reduce the environmental footprint by minimizing transportation needs.
